A muse on a possible future.

Now that Biden's in and Trump's yesterday's news,

here's a thought that's worth a muse,

If corporate power merges with that of state,

we could wake up to find that's it's checkmate.

A muse on a Wall Street's bad day.

Hedge funds are bleeding, their wounds on display,

A tidal wave of profits in such disarray.

And 'Robin Hooders' as they leave wave their thanks

and offer the finger to Wall Street and banks.

Why social media satire?

I call this the perfect 'social media satire' because these satirical political or social arguments fit in a standard tweet with a small introduction sentence.  If you want to use any of the satirical poems below to make a powerful argument to family & friends online, feel free but please make sure attribute the source and provide a link to my site. Thank you.

British Columbia Politics

A thought on our insane BC Health Policy

In unventilated classrooms, teachers are scared,

wondering whether or not they'll be spared.

And Bonnie Henry of course, won't hear their concerns.

Like Nero, she fiddles whilst all of Rome burns.

A thought on our why John Horgan (BC Premier) won't close the border to our province.

According to Horgan, Covid doesn't travel by plane

It doesn't come in via the car or the train.

Always minding its manners, it stops at the border

and simply doesn't warrant a provincial health order.

Is delaying the vaccine a good idea?

Covid 19 loves a partner in crime,

one that delays the vaccine's dosing time.

With Public Health it gets its wish

to turn us in to a petri dish.

A muse on our COVID health care predicament and inept politicians.

Transparency is seems is such a chore,

when instead you can say, "Oh, just do more."

And when Grannie dies in long term care,

It can't be because you were 'laissez faire.'

My thoughts on the hypocrisy of our public health approach

The ski hills are open, the shopping malls packed,

indoor dining’s encouraged under the public health act. Yet to see your own family inside for a hug,

is to hasten the spread of that bad Covid bug.

Thoughts on masks in schools

Don't worry, says Bonnie, the science is clear

that droplets end somewhere and then disappear,

The magic is brilliant because it dictates how it spreads,

and when kids don't wear masks, it passes over their heads.

World Politics

A muse on hypocrisy

John Kerry is worried, the climate’s a mess.

Too much pollution, a world of excess.

“I must save the planet and it is with regret,

I only do that using my private jet.”

A muse on free speech

They silence the critics and those who speak out. There’s a right way of thinking and speaking no doubt. Yet like the Jacobins who purged the unclean, they now cancel us with their guillotine.

A thought on our ridiculous stock market and growing inequality.

While the stock market bulls are enjoying a high,

for others it's obvious the crumbs from the pie

are getting smaller, like 18th century France.

Do the billionaires enjoy playing this game of chance?

                A Muse on hegemony

Silence the critics, censor the news.

Make it impossible for your puppet to lose.

And when your freedom knows no bounds,

it's time to use those missile rounds.

A Muse on the unholy marriage between church and state

Now that Biden's in and Trump's yesterday's news,

here's a thought that's worth a muse.

If corporate power merges with that of state,

We could wake up to find that it's 'checkmate.'
